Puppy

I made this puppy and listed in on my Etsy store and a couple of days later, he found a home!  He’s on his way to his new owner now.

Trick or Treat!

carved pumpkin

Hope you had a great Halloween!  I have a couple of pictures to share: Farmer Mike’s carved pumpkin for the 2008 Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival

And the pumkin patch where we picked our pumpkin from this year, which by the way won the ‘most scary’ category in the school contest.

We had quite a few children trick or treating this year.  I enjoy seeing children in their costumes, specially in the younger ones.  They look adorable!  Luckily the rain stopped long enough for the children to enjoy the evening.

Periwinkle Dragon

I just listed this dragon on Etsy.  This is another smiling dragon head made with periwinkle blue and transparent purple dots.  The bead measures approximately 1/2 inch height and the hole runs vertically.

What else?  I am still playing with cane and turquoise…I love the ocean and can’t help myself from making all these sea inspired beads…They just bring wonderful memories of my childhood.

Piece of Mind Jewels Trunk Show

I’ve been missing for a while as I was very busy with my ‘day’ job.  I’ve been working long days but I believe I’m over the hump so it should get easier now…or at least that is what I hope :)

Last Saturday I participated in a trunk show at piece of mind jewels.  Overall I had a great time chatting with other lampworkers and customers.  I sold a few beads from the collection I was building up, but not all!  I will be listing them in the following weeks…after I take pictures of them.  That is the most time consuming part…

I also finished a special order bead set.  Rich browns…just in time for the fall/winter season.  This one is on its way to the UK.

Back from a short break!

Halloween lampwork beads glass

I finally managed to take a day off from my day job and went to Disneyland with my family.  It was nice to see the old familiar rides and new ones (or at least, new for me :)).  I spent most of the time in the kiddie rides that my youngest daughter enjoyed but managed to go to the Indiana Jones ride with my oldest one.  That was a thrill!  Anyhow I’m back now and I’m posting a set of Halloween beads I made before I left.  You can find it on Ebay now.

Green Dragon

I love green glass…you probably have noticed it since I use it very often in my beads.  I particularly like how it gives that whimsical feel to it.  In this case I made a dragon head and really like how it turned out.  You can find it on Ebay this week.

Lots of new beads!

At last!  It took me a while but I managed to clean the beads, take the pictures and update my website.  I have listed lots of new beads…cats, dogs, cows, florals, abstracts…so check it out!

A visit to the Monterrey Aquarium

How I love the Monterrey Bay Aquarium!!! My favorite this time was the leafy sea dragon.  What an amazing creature!

After a full day of seeing so many sea creatures, I was inspired to make fish and seahorse (or sea dragon) beads.  I just took a picture of a couple of them… I’ll be listing them on Ebay or Etsy…haven’t decided it yet….

Beads at last!

Well, I’ve been quiet because I’ve been busy making beads!  I have signed up for a trunk show in Sacramento in October so I need to build up my inventory which was nearly depleted.  I probably made 30 beads so far but haven’t had a chance to clean them.  I  thought it would be easier if I piled them up and clean them all at once but I don’t think that strategy is working for me….I spent  all evening removing the beads from the mandrels and …but I still need to clean the bead holes…yikes! Anyhow, I managed to clean just a few…enough to make this bracelet:

And this pig and mouse.

I will take more pictures as I clean the beads…perhaps I’ll be able to do that over this long weekend.

Chihuly

Chihuly at the De Young Museum

We woke up early this morning and headed to San Francisco to the Chihuly exhibit at the De Young Museum.   The girls and I spent close to an hour in the exhibit admiring the beautiful and colorful glass work.  I took a few pictures to share with you but they don’t do justice. If you have the opportunity to see it in person, I would highly recommend it.  It’s really something not to be missed.

Chihuly at the De Young Museum

This was my personal favorite!  As my 2 and a half year old daughter candidly named it  a boat with balls and flowers! I love the color, shape and texture…breathtaking!

This is my daughters favorite!  We stared at the ceiling for a long time playing I spy…a starfish, a cherub, a goblet, a squid…all hidden under this gorgeous glass ceiling.

And finally, another installation at the Legion of Honor…so inspiring!  Makes me want to learn glass blowing too.
